Raising Peaceful Warriors
Storytelling. Reflections. Adventures. Healing. Support.
What's in a name?
Raising Peaceful Warriors is the result of infertility struggles, giving birth at 26 weeks to micro-preemie twins, during a pandemic, and the healing journey through writing, storytelling, adventuring, laughing, and offering support and resources to others.
I'm a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, athlete, outdoor guide, and licensed clinical mental health therapist who also happens to be an IVF, NICU, and TWINS survivor story. However, my story does not start there. I was a girl who struggled with substance use, mental health, and school for much of my teenage years. My story includes my leaving my house during adolescence, only to return and now have a stronger relationship with my family than I could have ever fathomed.
My story involves my educational successes and failures, attending multiple high schools before graduating, only to pursue graduate school later in life. My story involves being an all-american collegiate athlete turned paddler, skier, climber, outdoor guide, marathon runner, and coach. My story involves my travels; packing up bags and drifting between the high desert of central Oregon, to the salty, sweet air of Hawaii. To my sailing ancestry in New England, and my love for the southwest, where I lived, and fell in love with my husband, the father of our peaceful warriors.
My story involves loss. Loss of more things than I care to admit- However, Raising Peaceful Warriors is also a place to reflect on losses, and through vulnerability and growth, re-gain an openness of the heart to welcome the new...or a continuation of a "Raising" of the self.
In full, Raising Peaceful Warriors is a place to share, to reflect, and to offer healing and support for anyone who is seeking it.
